Integrative therapy
Standard psychiatry runs on a tight model: name the diagnosis, prescribe to the symptom, follow up in four to six weeks. It works for some people. For many, it doesn’t go far enough.
We work differently. Integrative psychiatry looks at how brain, body, and environment interact and how those patterns shape what you’re experiencing. From there, we give you the full range of options: pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, therapeutic, and lifestyle-based, informed by advanced diagnostics when they help.
And we don’t stop at symptom management. The goal isn’t just to quiet what’s wrong. It’s to understand the system well enough to restore balance, with clarity about the tradeoffs at every step.
You’re more than a diagnostic label. We look at the whole system and we work with what’s actually driving your experience.
This service may be a fit, if you’re looking for:
This isn’t a standardized protocol, a prepackaged process, or whatever’s trending. You won’t get basic underloaded band exercises, a passive quick fix, or have to commit to coming in for a lifetime. It’s not insurance-driven care that depends on a physician’s script and a 15-minute clock. And it’s not narrowly focused on a single symptom while ignoring the rest of you.
We offer both insurance-based and private pay options, depending on the provider. HSA/FSA accepted. Some testing and interventions may be out-of-pocket. In terms of time commitment, the frequency and format are flexible, aligned to your goals, not a default weekly model.
While we recognize that standard psychiatric practices and insurance systems categorize human experience based on the framework of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, we also recognize that the evidence basis for this system is poor. Instead, we place much more emphasis on the context of your experiences and the meaning you derive from them to help organize our approach.
After establishing the context and meaning of your experiences, we then move into considering the dimensions of you experience. What is going on in the body? The psyche? The environment? We then move into a discussion around what we can consider for treatment in these dimensions: medications, natural products (supplements, herbals, botanicals), therapy, lifestyle modifications, etc.
Yes! While we consider a comprehensive array of treatment options, we collaborate with you to organize treatment and next steps in a way that makes sense. Treatment should always be personalized to your unique circumstances and based on what makes the most sense to you.
We take collaboration very seriously and honor the fact that the keys to your unique stuck points lie within your unique context. Like a buffet, we will offer options that are grounded in scientific evidence but we will also want to know what makes the most sense to you. Human experience is incredibly complex and we honor the fact that your lived experience is more important than our “expert” opinions.
We recognize that medications have a place and time. We deeply honor your individual perspective on this and how you relate to medications when we consider the plan of care. We try our best to provide you with scientifically grounded and near-equivalent options, bringing a balanced perspective to our collaborative conversation about what works best for you now. Also, rather than starting a medication and keeping it forever; we believe that we should ask at regular intervals whether or not your treatment options are still in service to you.
